Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG

Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG tech sheet

Pruning Method: Guyot

Soil: Sandy soils rich in fossilized Pliocene seashells

Varietals: 90% Vernaccia, 10% Malvasia, small amounts of Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling as well

Vinification Method: All grape bunches are pressed very gently, then the juice is fermented cool, meaning as slowly as possible.

Tasting Note: Bottling in early spring means the wine retains all those characteristics Vernaccia is famous for, especially if consumed young: a rich creamy texture with mouthwatering green apple and citrus flavor. With aging, Vernaccia develops savory almond, flint and liquorice characters.

Fiore Rosso

Pruning Method: Guyot

Soil: Sandy soils rich in fossilized Pliocene seashells

Varietals: 70% Sangiovese and 30% Merlot

Vinification Method: The grape juice undergoes only a short maceration (soaking) on the skins before aging in small, stainless steel tanks until early summer after the harvest. It is then bottled, ready for autumn, and can age and improve for several years or more.

Tasting Note: The wine is marked by cherry and blackberry flavors with a really vibrant lift, making it ideal as both a light luncheon wine or for a more serious evening dinner.
