Vater & Sohn

Vater & Sohn started as a joint project between Michael Voelker of 2Naturkinder and his father, where Michael’s natural wine philosophy meets his father’s traditional approach. The wines are equally natural as those of 2Naturkinder except for a rough filtering and small addition of sulfur before bottling; as the years went by, even style-wise they became more free and expressive, as the latest addition – the “straight from the heart” Skin Contact white blend shows.

Skin Contact White Blend — Back to the top

The same typical three Franconian varieties coming together as in 2Naturkinder’s Drei Freunde cuvée: Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus and Silvaner, just with a bit different approach to the skin contact.

Grapes: 22% Bacchus, 57% Müller-Thurgau, 21% Silvaner

Vineyard: Shell limestone

Making of: the grapes are hand-harvested and processed separately: the Bacchus is direct-pressed, the Muller gets partly skin fermented for about a week, partly direct pressed, and Silvaner partly skin fermented for about a week, partly direct press. Bottled after a year, unfined unfiltered, with 5ppm of sulfur added just before bottling.

Personality: herbal flavors from the skin-contact Muller and Silvaner compliment the Bacchus contribution of exotic flavors – a beautiful easy-drinking white.
